The Industrial wireless networks WIA specification Part 2: WIA system architecture and communication specification for factory automation (WIA-FA), the R&D of which was led by Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has been officially made a national standard of China, and will come into practice on July 1^st, 2016.

Aiming for discrete manufacturing industry, the WIA-FA technology provides an effective solution for the building of new low-cost networked intelligent measure and control system. It is also an important enabling technology used in factory automation production line to realize online reconfiguration. It can help transform China’s manufacturing industry from the mode of low-cost mass production into one of high-end and high value-added personalized production.
