China’s first fully wireless online monitoring system for smart substations was put into application in Hejia 200KV Smart Substation of Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Liaoning Electric Power Company Limited co-developed the system.
The WIA industrial wireless technology led by SIA was used to improve the monitoring equipment of traditional substation. The fully wireless online monitoring system for smart substations is able to perform real-time monitoring of arresters, transformer cores, SF6 gas and the heating state of busbar connections. The application of the system demonstrates that the performance of WIA wireless communication is as reliable as that of wired communication. The system can achieve seamless integration into the assistant control system of smart substation, and provide abundant forecasting operation and maintenance information.
