Robot-assisted Surgery Technology Discussed during Seminar with Doctors

The first academic exchange seminar between researchers from Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and doctors from the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region took place in the hospital on November 1st, 2012. Liang Bo, vice director of SIA, and Meng Weihong, director of the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region participated in the seminar.

Zhao Yiwen, Li Hongyi, Zhao Xingang and Liu Hao, researchers from SIA gave reports on “Robot-assisted operation technology for minimally invasive orthopedic surgery and natural orifice interventional therapy”, “Robot-assisted limb rehabilitation technology”, “Robot-assisted flexible needle technology for minimally invasive surgery”, “Multi-mode brain-computer interface”, “Natural orifice minimally invasive intervention” respectively. After the reports, researchers from SIA and doctors major in cardiology, cardiac surgery, congenial heart disease and neurology made discussions and exchanges on the topics mentioned above.

At the end of the seminar, Meng Weihong, director of the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region and Liang Bo, vice director of SIA delivered closing speeches. They both expressed the wish of strengthening the cooperation between medical and engineering, as well as jointly building research and development platform and promoting talents exchange.
