Upon the invitation of Underwater Vehicle Laboratory, Dr. Zhang Yanwu of Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) visited Shenyang Institute of automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on June 11th. During his visit, Zhang Yanwu made an academic report entitled The target observation of marine characteristics is carried out by autonomous underwater vehicle using navigation and suspension model. Li Shuo, director of Underwater Vehicle Laboratory, received Dr. Zhang Yanwu, and researchers and graduate students from Underwater Vehicle Laboratory and Ocean Information and Technology Equipment Center attended the academic report.
In the report, Zhang Yanwu introduced the Tethys long-distance AUV developed by MBARI and its application in ocean observation and measurement target, introduced the development and operating mode of Tethys AUV, and showed the scientific research results of the AUV. The report of the tight connection of science and technology had left a deep impression on the participants.
After the report, researchers from Underwater Vehicle Laboratory and Zhang Yanwu conducted in-depth exchanges on issues they were interested in.
