Upon the invitation of Ocean Technology Equipment Department, Professor Eric Rogers and Ph. D Bing Chu from University of Southampton visited Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on January 5th, 2015. Rogers gave a lecture at the Robot Frontier Academic Forum.
In his lecture, titled Model Predictive Control of an AUV with Large Lake Test, Rogers introduced the research background and dynamic model of Delphin2 AUV of the University of Southampton, as well as its model prediction control method under the condition of saturated actuating mechanism and control outcome. He also showed video of the lake test. After the report, Haibin Yu, director of SIA conferred the certificate of Robot Frontier Academic Forum to Rogers. Chu also made a report about Designing of Iterative Learning Control (ILC) based on alterative projection.
Rogers is a professor of control systems theory and design in Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) of the University of Southampton. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Control. Chu obtained his Bachelor’s and Masters’ Degree from Tsinghua University respectively in the year 2004 and 2007. He obtained a Ph.D degree in the University of Sheffield in the year 2009 and conducted postdoctoral research in Oxford University during 2009 and 2012. He has been working at University of Southampton since 2012.
