Prof. Quanmin Zhu from University of the West of England visited Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on August 13, 2012, giving lectures on “Nonlinear dynamic system modeling and controlling" and "Mechanic system synchronous control theory and method”. During his visit, Prof. Zhu also discussed with editors from Robot and Information and Control, two journals published by SIA, about how to improve the quality of academic journals, and reached agreement on further cooperation.
After obtaining his master's degree from the Control Engineering Department of Harbin Institute of Technology in 1983, Prof. Zhu studied at the University of Warwick and obtained doctor's degree in 1989. From 1989 to 1994, he pursued his post-doctoral degree in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering in the University of Sheffield.
Prof. Zhu is a member of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), PEng (UK), member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), member of the Engineering Council UK (ECUK), member of the China-Britain Technology Trade Association, and member of the review committee of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Meanwhile, Prof. Zhu serves as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Modeling, Identification and Control, and is the founder of the journal. He is also the founder and chairman of the International Conference of Modeling, Identification and Control. For his rich experience, Prof. Zhu is hired as adviser by several companies and associations. (Dai Tianjiao)
