The 2012 Smart Grid Workshop was held in Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) from June 25 to 26, 2012. Organized by the Industrial Control Network and Systems Department of SIA, the workshop focused on the current situation, research hot issues and future directions of smart grid research.
During the two days, experts made reports on distributed energy dynamic variation characteristics and access control, math model and mechanism model analysis and control of energy storage device, grid-connection control and isolated network control of micro-grid, distributed optimization control and real-time control of smart grid, and demand response control and communication standard, etc.
In addition, the major characteristics, architecture and operation mode of the next stage of smart grid development, development trends of power electronics, distributed energy and micro-grid, challenges in networked control development, as well as major scientific issues and key technologies in grid CPS system were discussed in depth.
Yu Haibin, director of SIA participated in the workshop and delivered the opening speech. Zeng Peng, head of the Industrial Control Network and Systems Department presided over the meetings. Well-known overseas and domestic experts in the field of smart grid gathered in the workshop, including Prof. Li Shuhui from the University of Alabama, Senior Researcher Han Junqiao from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), Assistant Professor Liu Wenxin from the New Mexico State University, Prof. Jiang Xiuchen, Vice Director of the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University, deputy director of the expert group in the National High-tech R&D Program (the 863 program) of smart grid, Prof. Fu Minyue, director of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Newcastle, Qian-ren Professorship at Zhejiang University, as well as Prof. Tan Jindong, guest professor of SIA.
