Invited by the Department of Space Automation Technologies, Gao Yang, associate professor from Surrey Space Center (SSC) of the University of Surrey in the UK, and Li Yangmin, professor from the University of Macau visited Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and gave academic reports respectively on April 13th, 2012.
In her report, titled “Surrey Space Centre – Pushing the boundary of low-cost small spacecraft application and technologies”, Gao Yang introduced the development path and outlook of small satellite system in SSC, the development trend of spacecraft electronic device, key technologies of hard landers in the lunar exploration mission of UK, as well as the Mars exploration mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). Currently, Professor Gao heads SSC’s Autonomy & Al Research Group, which consists of ten postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.
As the director of Academic Research, Faculty of Science and Technology, the director and founder of Mechatronics Laboratory of University of Macau, Li Yangmin’s major research focus on robotics, nanotechnology, mechatronics, control, automation, and computational intelligence. In his report, titled “Micromanipulator for micro/nano manipulations”, Professor Li introduced the structure, statics model, dynamics model and optimization of micro-nano manipulator.
After the reports, Professor Yu Haibin, director of SIA honored the certificate of “Robotics Frontier Academic Forum” to Gao Yang, while extending the appointment letter of “Overseas Distinguished Scholar” to Li Yangmin. (Dai Tianjiao)
