On September 30, Researcher Yuliang Zhao, a Ph.D. supervisor from Northeastern University at Qinhuangdao, was invited to visit the Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA) , Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) and delivered an academic report titled "From Perception to Cognition: Large Model-Driven New Paradigms and Application Practices."

Yuliang Zhao provided a systematic overview of the pivotal role played by large language models and AI-generated content in advancing intelligent technologies from perception towards cognition. Drawing upon his research in artificial intelligence, deep learning, and sensor fusion, he elaborated on the latest progress of large models in areas such as information perception, semantic understanding, and cognitive reasoning. He also shared typical application practices from his team involving AIGC and intelligent sensor data processing.

The event was organized by the Department of Science and Technology and hosted by the Optoelectronic Information Technology Research Laboratory and the Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of Optical Information and Simulation Technology. Attending the report were relevant scientific researchers, postgraduate students, and departmental staff. The event was chaired by Associate Researcher Jian Fang from the Optoelectronic Information Technology Research Laboratory.
