State Key Laboratory of Robotics and Intelligent Systems Holds the First Meeting of the First Academic Committee

On April 19, the first meeting of the first academic committee of the State Key Laboratory of Robotics and Intelligent Systems was held at Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Zelin Shi, Director of SIA, firstly delivered a speech on behalf of the Institute, extending gratitude to the members of the academic committee for their support for the development of the laboratory and expressing the institute's full support for the development of the laboratory.

Haibin Yu, director of the laboratory, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and researcher of SIA, introduced the progress of the laboratory's work in 2024, including research, talent, facilities, academic exchange, as well as outlook for the next year.

Chuang Zhang, Jie Sun, and Lanxiang Sun from SIA gave sub-reports on Drive and Control of Life-like Robots, Key Technology of Roboticised Intelligent Sonar, and In-situ Sensing of Chemical Elements in the Deep Sea by Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy.

Members of the academic committee recognised the work of the laboratory in 2024.

Orienting to the international academic frontiers, the laboratory has made important progress in life-like robots, flexible surgical robots and rehabilitation robots, and published a number of high-level academic papers. To meed demand of the country, the laboratory has achieved influential results in the development of common key technologies and platforms for robots for extreme environmental tasks, such as marine robots, space robots and cross-domain collaborative robots. It has served major national projects such as deep space and deep sea exploration, aerospace engineering and emergency rescue. At the same time, it has developed robotised intelligent manufacturing and ultra-precision measurement and inspection systems, which effectively support national high-end manufacturing such as rocket engines and integrated circuits.

In addition, the laboratory has made new progress in talentcultivation, team building, system construction and management in a more systematic way.

Haibin Yu, on behalf of the laboratory, expressed his gratitude to the members for their support and suggestions, and the laboratory will continue to strengthen the platform construction, give full play to the disciplinary advantages and scientific research strength, and better meet the needs of the country's major strategies.
