SIA Research Selected as China 10 Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing

A Flexible Control Technology for Batch Customization Based on Self-adaptive Reconfigurable Method, developed by a research team led by the Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIACAS), was selected as China 10 Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing.

A series of difficulties will emerge during the process of bulk production of personalized customized products, including extended offline adjustment cycles for production processes and control programs due to the design change of products.  

The research team developed a software based on knowledge graphs for the automatic recommendation of process steps and the generation of PLC programs, by conquering technologies such as efficient extraction of unstructured process knowledge, proactive recommendation of process knowledge, automatic generation and conversion of PLC programs.

They also developed software for autonomous robot operation and program generation, to meet the challenges of low efficiency in offline programming and poor program reusability for robots in complex environments.

Research achievements have been demonstrated in the field of highly personalized batch production for elevators. The developed self-adaptive reconfigurable flexible assembly system has significantly reduced the delivery cycle for batch customization of elevators. It has been progressively extended to the flexible manufacturing of aerospace equipment, contributing to the efficient and flexible production of aerospace equipment.
