Professor Xiao Yang from the University of Alabama in the United States visited Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on May 23rd, 2013, giving a report named Primate-inspired Heterogeneous Mobile and Static Sensor Networks. In his report, Xiao introduced the latest research progress in mobile and static sensor networks based on bionic method.

Xiao is an internationally famous expert in network security and communication network, and has published over 200 papers on journals and over 200 papers in international conferences, including 50 IEEE/ACM journal and 19 books. Currently, he serves as editor-in-chief of International Journal of Sensor Networks and International Journal of Security and Networks. Xiao is also a senior member of IEEE as well as member of American Telemedicine Association (ATA).
