Former Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Donald Tsang Visited SIA Guang zhou Branch

Donald Tsang, former Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) visited Guangzhou Branch of Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on November 2nd, 2012. Tang Hao, Secretary General of Guangdong Province accompanied Donald Tsang during the visit.

Li Lingqi, director of the Guangzhou Branch introduced the history, research directions, academicians and experts, etc., to the guest firstly. He also made a report on the branch’s work in ceramics, shipbuilding, energy saving and environmental protection, as well as the “Smart City” program of Guangdong Province.

Donald Tsang spoke highly of the progress that the branch has achieved during the past year since its establishment in Guangzhou’s Nansha New District in 2011. As the sixth national new district of China and a demonstration district of overall cooperation between Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR, Nansha New District has large development space and huge potential, pointed out by Tsang. He hoped that the branch can make full use of the favorable policies of the country, accelerate R&D platform construction, enhance industrial transformation and upgrading, promote the cultivation and development of strategic new industries and bring the development of Nansha New District to a new level.
