Several intelligent transportation radar products developed by Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) have got the approval of the transportation security product testing center under the Ministry of Public Security recently, giving the products permit into the market. Meanwhile, SIA has gained the first purchase contract of intelligent transportation radar products.

Through persistent efforts of researchers from the radar division under SIA’s Automation Systems Department (Key Laboratory of Liaoning Province on Radar System & Application), two speed measurement radars (wide beam and narrow beam), two invading line radars and one prototype of flow detection radar came to birth in March 2012, after the successful development of two railway radar products last year. Road tests were conducted in March, April and May this year after finishing lab experiment. At the same time, comparison tests by customers show that the radar products developed by SIA have advantages over other products of the same kind in the market in whole performance and some key indicators.

In addition to intelligent transportation radar, the radar division of SIA is now engaging in the R&D of security radar, medical service radar, etc.　 (Dai Tianjiao)
