The project, named “The R&D of industrial wireless technologies and networked measurement and control system”, led by the Industrial Control Network and Systems Department of Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has got technical acceptance by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China, and CAS respectively.
Zhejiang University, Instrumentation Technology and Economy Institute of the People’s Republic of China, Microcyber Inc., Shanghai Institute of Process Automation Instrumentation, Northeastern University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Southwest University, Dalian University of Technology and University of Science and Technology Beijing, etc., were involved in the project. High reliability, high real-time and low power consumption for the application of wireless technology in industrial measurement and control were achieved, core technologies with independent intellectual property rights were mastered, and self-owned technology system with over 30 patents was constructed. In 2011, the WIA-PA technology standard proposed by the project team was unanimously approved by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as an international standard: WIA-PA Communication Network and Communication Profile 62601.
Under the project, a physical experiment and R&D platform which can simulate factory environment and support the simulation test with thousand-point network were built up, several industrial wireless measurement and control products and systems for specific industries were developed, and the first liquid metal on-line analyzer prototype in China was produced. These technologies and products have been put into applications and demonstrations in some large and medium enterprises, including Anshan Iron and Steel Group Cooperation, Shanghai Boiler Works Co., LTD., and Nanjing Leader Chemical Co., LTD.
