Independently developed by Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), Chinese Academy of Science, the design, assembly and experimental operation of the wind power control system, including the hardware prototype and the related software, have been finished recently, after two years’ efforts of SIA’s Automation Systems Department.
The control system includes three parts: (1) the wind turbine control system hardware, including the specific controller, communication module, I/O module, CANopen module, power network measurement module, counter module, overspeed switch and real-time Ethernet module, etc.; (2) the control algorithms for the wind turbine’s master control, pitch, yaw and safety chain; and (3) the wind turbine SCADA monitoring system.
China Creative Wind Energy Co., Ltd (CCWE), one of the most competitive megawatt wind power equipment enterprises in China, has shown great interest in the R & D of the wind power control system. CAI Xiaofeng, deputy general manager of CCWE paid several visits to SIA to check on the progress. In 2010, CCWE and SIA’s Automation Systems Department signed a cooperative protocol on wind power control system development, and the two sides have reached the agreement to initiate the field operation experiment stage of the cooperation.
