The “Strategic Research on Multifunctional Intelligent Robot Technology Patent” undertaken by Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has been approved by the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China (SIPO) as the “2011 SIPO Patent Strategic Promotion Research Project”. The project is recommended by the Science and Technology Department of Liaoning Province, which also shares responsibility with SIA in the study.

Relying on the study of “Research on High-precision Friction Stir Welding Equipment for Large Thin-walled Structures”, the project is to build up a patent navigation information platform based on the technology characteristics of multifunctional intelligent robots. Meanwhile, by using SWOT strategic analysis diagram, industry structure and value chain chart, researchers can make analysis and pre-warning for the patent information of key technologies involved in the existing areas, and develop patent strategy for the multifunctional intelligent robot technology.

The “SIPO Patent Strategic Promotion Research Project” is set up in order to provide actual and effective support for conquering key technologies, enhancing integrative innovation capacities of key & important projects, and facilitating the optimal allocation, efficient utilization and sharing of scientific resources, through in-depth analysis and research on the patent information of key technology areas and significant industrialized projects.
