At the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation Awards Ceremony, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS) announced the winners of 2011 IEEE RAS Early Career Award. Dr. Lianqing Liu with the State Key Laboratory of Robotics, affiliated to Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), is one of the two final winners of this great award for the contributions of development of high efficiency nanorobotics and nanomanipulation systems. It is also the first time that scholars from Chinese Mainland receive this honor since the establishment of RAS Early Career Award in 1999.
IEEE RAS is one of the most important research organizations in robotics and automation area. RAS Early Career Award was established by IEEE RAS in 1999 to recognize the people “who have made an identifiable contribution or contributions which have had a major impact on the robotics and/or automation fields. The candidate should be in the early stage of his/her career in the robotics and/or automation field, i.e., less than 7 years after being granted his or her highest earned academic degree.” Every year only two persons will be elected to be the final winners of this award. The 2011 IEEE RAS Early Career Award is awarded to Dr. Lianqing Liu from Shenyang Institute of Automation, China, and Dr. Hisataka Maruyama from Nagoya University, Japan.
