China's State Top Scientific and Technological Award ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, capital of China, on January 11, 2010, and the project “Development of the Core Chip, Interoperability Technology and Integrated Control System for Process Industrial Fieldbus”, hosted by Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), received the second prize of China's 2009 State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

The project was co-developed by SIA, Chongqing Sichuan Instrument Complex Co., Ltd., Microcyber Inc. and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Core technologies related to the development of networked control system such as process industrial network communication chip, intelligent instrumentation module, intelligent instrument, field control station, key network equipment, etc. have been conquered. A full range of product development from the core chip, through the intelligent instrumentation module to the bus control system has been fulfilled. With these technologies, the overall level of the nation’s industrial automation systems and the market competitiveness of the related products are increased.

The project award is a full recognition of SIA’s major breakthrough obtained through long-time devotion to the R&D and application of bus control systems. The project solves the “no chip” problem in the core technology of networked control system in China, breaks the technical difficulties restraining the development of instrument and control system industries, and enables SIA to stride onto a new stage in the field of automatic control.
