"CAS Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Information Processing"proposed by the Optical Electronics and Information Department of SIA has recently been approved by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for establishment and construction.

For a long time, Optical Electronics and Information Department of SIA has been working on theoretical and applied research on optoelectronic imaging, image processing, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence, etc., and has fulfilled lots of important national and local R&D projects in such fields as image tracking, measurement & control, and command automation. The department has won tens of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards and the CAS Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.

The Optical Electronics and Information Department applied the CAS Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Information Processing at the end of 2008. Over a year’s careful preparation and modification, the application has been approved by CAS, and the laboratory will be constructed and managed in accordance with the related CAS management rules.
